Karachi: The Sindh government has changed the timings of all state-owned and private schools across the city due to extremely cold weather.
As per the notification issued by the Sindh Education and Literacy Department, all private and government schools across the province will operate 8:30am onwards
According to the notification the decision has been taken in view of the prevailing wave of severe cold in the province, further adding that the new timings shall remain enforced till January 31, 2024.
This development follows the reopening of classes in schools across Sindh on January 1, after a 10-day winter vacation break that commenced on December 22, 2023.
Looking ahead, the new academic year for both public and private schools across Sindh is scheduled to commence on April 15, 2024. Meanwhile, colleges will initiate their academic sessions on August 1, 2024.
Sindh is not the only province facing severe cold, Punjab government also facing the harsh weather conditions — has extended the winter holidays of public and private educational institutions till January 9.
