Sindh CM  convenes cabinet meeting today

KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has convened the provincial cabinet meeting at 4 pm today in Karachi.

According to the details, Rangers deployment, jurisdiction and special policing powers to the paramilitary forces will be discussed in the meeting. Home secretary will brief the meeting today.

Earlier, Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan had said that every three months, when the powers given to the Rangers expire and have to be renewed by approval of the chief minister, the performance of the paramilitary force is unnecessarily made a matter of dispute.

“If the provincial government does not issue a notification for an extension in the Ranger’s powers in the name of public interest, the federal government will consider its options under the constitution and law,” the minister had said.

Whereas, Sindh government is considering to adopt a ‘Punjab model’ for granting special powers to the Rangers after which the paramilitary force will only assist the police in action against terrorists and criminals.
