KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah met with Turkey’s newly appointed Consul General, Ergul Kadak, on Monday and extended a warm welcome as he begins his diplomatic assignment in Karachi.
In their meeting, CM Shah emphasized the deep-rooted and historical ties between Pakistan and Turkey, reaffirming the Sindh government’s commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation. He called for enhanced trade relations and highlighted the efforts already underway between the two nations to boost economic engagement.
The Chief Minister shared an overview of key development initiatives in Sindh, particularly large-scale projects in road infrastructure, energy, and water management. He extended a formal invitation to Turkish investors to consider investing in Sindh — especially in Karachi, a mega city of more than 21 million residents — with a focus on public transport and urban infrastructure sectors.
Consul General Ergul Kadak responded positively, expressing enthusiasm for Turkish businesses to contribute to Sindh’s developmental landscape. He also lauded Karachi’s vibrancy and the hospitality of its people, calling it a “remarkable city.”
Both sides agreed to facilitate further dialogue, with Sindh’s Investment Department scheduled to hold follow-up meetings with the Turkish consulate to explore concrete investment opportunities.
