KARACHI: The Sindh government is ramping up its efforts to finalize the provincial budget for the 2026-27 fiscal year, with indications that it will be revealed in the Sindh Assembly on June 12.
Sources reveal that the budget could be introduced around 3:00 pm on the specified date, with Sindh Chief Minister and Finance Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah set to present it to lawmakers.
Within the Sindh Finance Department, discussions are ongoing regarding a proposed salary increase for government employees. The current proposal suggests a total raise of 12%, with the federal government expected to contribute a 10% increase, and the Sindh government potentially adding an additional 2%.
Officials involved in the budget discussions emphasize that final decisions are still under review, and the proposals will be finalized before the official presentation.
The upcoming budget is anticipated to focus on development projects, social welfare programs, and strategic measures to mitigate economic challenges faced by the province in the coming year.
