Sindh high level meeting suspends DG SBCA over building collapse incident in Lyari

Karachi: A high level meeting chaired by Chief Minister Sindh Murad Ali Shah on Monday, today, suspended Director General (DG) Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) over collapsing of building in Lyarai Baghdari area resulted in killing of 27 people.

The huddle also decided to give a compensation amout of Rs one million to every deceased of the tragic incident.

Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Memon, Minister for Local Bodies Saeed Ghani and Home Minister Zia Ul Hassan Lanjar adddressed a presser after the meeting apprised that we have to look into the matter what was the role of the ex-dg SBCA while a strict action will be taken against responsible for negligence and fault.

The Minister said that the every thing will be cleared after the surfacing of the fact finding report in the two days.

Saeed Ghani informed that the survey of the building conducted in 2022 and all the officers name remained on the SBCA during the period on the post will be included in an FIR if found guilty. .

He also revealed dilapdated 740 buildings in the city out of which 51 will be bulldozed immediately.

Home Minister Zia Ul Hassan Lanjar announced a strict action against people responsible for criminal negligence and fault and admitted that there is flaw in the SBCA law regarding determining the responsible of the incident but pepetrators of criminal negligence will be determined and responsibles will be arrested.
