Lahore: Ameer-e-Jamat Islami Siraj Ul Haq demanded re-election of mayor and deputy mayor election of Karachi.
The JI Ameer has announced protest on June 23 in front of Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).
Pakistan People Party (PPP)’s Murtaza Wahab had won Karachi mayor elections by securing 173 votes, the Jamate Islami (JI) candidate Hafiz Naeem Rehman remained on second position by getting 161 votes.
As many as 33 chairman’s of PTI not attended the voting session.
In the same way Salman Murad elected as deputy mayor Karachi. He also got 173 votes, PPP’s 173 votes included it’s allied parties of PM L- N, 14 votes , JUI-F 4 votes.
PTI elected members for Karachi city council had announced supporting to JI after instructions from the PTI chairman and provincial leadership.
But they could not reach the polling station, set up at Karachi Arts Council.
The JI has alleged the Sindh government of making the PTI members hostage and it didn’t allow the PTI members to exercise their rights of votes.
The JI Karachi chief Hafiz Naeem Ur Rehman had also wrote a letter to the ECP to ensure presence of all the city council members on the polling day.
Despite that 33 members of PTI could not attend the polling.
