Sirajul Haq deplores delay in constitution of commission

ISLAMABAD: As the larger bench of Supreme Court of Pakistan adjourned the hearing of Panamagate case till first week of January, the petitioners in the case reacted to the development.

Amir Jamaat-e-Islami Sirajul Haq, who is one of the petitioners in the case, said that 74 days of the nations were wasted, adding that had the commission been formed at the outset of the case it would have completed its investigation till now.

Awami Muslim League (AML) Chief Sheikh Rashid said that Sharif family had no documentary evidence of the money trail, while one of the PTI’s counsels Baber Awan said that the nation would continue chasing the accused of Panamagate scandal.

Talking to media outside Supreme Court, Sirajul Haq deplored the delay in disposal of the case. He said that almost all the parties had demanded constitution of the commission under Supreme Court, adding that had it been formed earlier it would have completed its investigation by now.

AML Chief Sheikh Rashid said that the rulers had no record of money trail, therefor they had desired the larger bench should decide the case. He added that the commissions formed in the past from Hamood-ur-Rehman to till date had not come up to the expectation of the nation.

PTI counsel Baber Awan said that now the Panamagate case hearing would be held next year, but the nation would continue chasing down the accused.

He added that they were trying to unite the opposition, even if they failed to do so the case would be taken to its logical conclusion.

He added that there had been a tradition the apex court worked even during holidays. He said that state resources were being used to save the rulers.

ISLAMABAD: Opposition leader in National Assembly (NA) Khursheed Shah has demanded sacking of Managing Director (MD) of national carrier, Pakistan International Airline (PIA). Khursheed Shah also raised question why the plane sent to Chitral which did not have capacity to fly high.

The Opposition leader declared MD PIA responsible for the plane crash and called for his sacking. He said that PIA-ATR plane incurred hundred of thousand rupees loss to national exchequer every year adding that no pilot deliberately play with his life.

Regarding politics, he said that elections are real accountability of politicians adding that the government itself creating situation for “Go Nawaz Go”.  Khursheed Shah said that “PM doesn’t give respect to the parliament that elected him”.

Regarding the PPP demands, he said that the demands are of national nature and the demands were not made the government will be in trouble.

He claimed that Asif Ali Zardari has credit of China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and said that Mushahid Hussain himself gave the credit of the CPEC to Asif Zardari.

Karachi: Sindh Government has held responsible hotel management for bloody fire that killed 12 persons in a report presented to Chief Minister CM Sindh by home ministry.

Secretary home has presented report to the CM Sindh regarding the fire that say fire erupted due negligence of the hotel management. The all fire extinguisher material which was fixed in the hotel not only old but it was not upgraded.

The report further said that the hotel staff also showed negligence and they tried to run away from the scene after the fire eruption in the hotel instead of helping the guest to avoid fire and save them from fire.

It is pertinent to mention here that as many as 12 people were killed by fire in the hotel on intervening night of Sunday and Monday.

Islamabad: Opposition leader in Senate, Aitazaz Ahsan has demanded high level investigation into PIA ATR-661 crash that killed 48 people near Havelian yesterday.

Talking to media persons outside the parliament the Senator and key leader of Pakistan People Party (PPP) said that precious lives were lost in the tragic plane crash and called for high level inquiry into the matter.

The PPP leader said that inquiry should not be wrapped under the carpet adding that investigation should be aimed to ascertain that whether the accident took place due to fault or mistake of the pilot.

Aitazaz Ahsan said that the inquiry should also look into the angle of sabotaging the plane.

Chitral: The passengers who have travelled to Ill-fated PIA ATR-661 earlier, which was crashed yesterday killing at least 48 person, have revealed that the plane conditions was so much bad and it’s voice was also not normal.

The new revelations have come up regarding the PIA’s ATR plane, the people who have travelled to the plane earlier said that the plane condition was so much bad and its voice was also not normal despite that it was allowed flying.

A passenger, who had travelled in the plane just a day ago, said that “the flight on the same plane the day I travelled was not normal as well and women remained scary during the whole flight.” While the passenger also said that he received phone call from the passenger from plane as it took off and they say “plane’s voice is not looking normal.”

It is pertinent to mention here that Chairman PIA Azam Sehgal had categorically said that yesterday in his presser that the PIA flight ATR 661 coming from Chitral to Islamabad had no fault and it was checked thoroughly in October last.

Mumbai: Cricketers could be ‘red-carded’ by umpires and ejected from the ground for the duration of a match after the sport’s lawmakers on Wednesday recommended on-field sanctions to address declining standards of player behavior.

It is likely that law will be applicable from next October. The world cricket committee of the Melbourne Cricket Club (MCC), the guardian of the game’s laws, has recommended that a player should be removed from the field for threatening an umpire, physical assault or any other act of violence.

A two-day meeting was held in Mumbai attended by Ramiz Raja and Rickey Pointing and others stalwarts of cricket.

MCC world cricket committee Chairman Mike Brearley said umpires needed to be empowered to impose on-the-spot sanctions, noting that there were more disciplinary problems in the lower-tier leagues.

Match officials currently report players or incidents to the match referee at the end of the day after which action is taken.

Chitral:  District Nazim Chitral has announced three day mourning over tragic plane crash killing as many as 48 people and all the businesses and educational institutes are closed in the area.

It is pertinent to mention here that PIA- ATR plane going to Islamabad from Chitral has been crashed near Havalian.

The air crashed claims 47 lives including renowned Naat Khuwan and former Singer Junaid Jamshaid and Deputy Commissioner Chitral, Osama Ahmed Warraich.

It is said that 13 persons died in the accident belonged to Chitral.

Karachi: Procession of 8th Rabi Ul Awal of “Chup Tazia” has recovered from Nishtar Park after end of main majlis to commemorate the martyrdom of Imam Hasan al-Askari (R.A).

The procession is usually regarded as the last procession of the mourning period that begins in the Islamic month of Muharram.

The Procession will take its sets route will end at Hussainian Iranian Imam Bargah in Kharadar. At the occasion strict security measures have been taken by Law Enforcement Agencies (LEA’s) while MA Jinnah Road is completely closed for all types of traffics.

The procession will pass through its conventional routes Purani Numiash, MA Jinnah Road, Sadar, Tibet Center, Eid Gah, Light House, Boltan Market and end at Hussainian Iranian Imambargah at Kharadar.

The MA Jinnah Road has been closed for all traffic as per traffic police the traffic coming from Sadar have been diverted to Corridor 3 while traffic coming from Tower have been diverted to I.I Chundrigarh Road.

Prices of crude oil have witnessed decline of 2.5% while the US crude oil per barrel business closed at less than 50 dollars.

U.S. benchmark West Texas Intermediate crude oil prices gained 14 cents to $49.90 a barrel after ending down $1.16.

International Brent crude futures were trading up 4 cents at $53.04 a barrel at 0345 GMT after closing the previous session down 93 cents.

On the other hand Venezuela Oil minister said that OPEC wanted to increase prices of crude oil on medium level so that oil producer countries could not face loss.

PM’s special assistant on foreign affairs Tariq Fatemi has said that Pakistan has rendered enormous sacrifices in war against terrorism.

Addressing a ceremony of United States Institute of Peace, the assistant said that Pakistan has achieved several milestones on financial and economic front in last three years.

He said that international community has recognized the government efforts in progress of economic and social progress in tribal areas started since 2013 and till that.

Fatemi said that whole of the world has appreciated Pakistan war against terrorism, however, sacrifices rendered by its arms forces and people always be remembered.

The assistant told the US audience that government has overcome energy crisis to large extent in last 3 years adding that China Pakistan Economic Corridor will not only bring progress to Pakistan it will also ensured prosperity of whole region.

Tariq Fatemi said that Pakistan and the USA have firm relations and both the countries are working in different sectors.

He expressed hope that coming President Donald Trump will continue to work with Pakistan to maintain firmly relations.
