Lahore: Minister for Prisons Punjab Fayyaz Ul Hassan Chohan has approved a better step to mobilize assembly members to bring improvement in administrative affairs of the prisons.
The Minister also requested the assembly members to visit their respective district prisons. Fayyaz Chohan said that every MPA can authorize to visit respective district prison under the Punjab Privileges Act 1972, section 18 while the minister prisons and home secretary can nominate any person for non official visit.
He said that the revolutionary steps are being taken in the administrative affairs of the prisons across the province in the next six months adding that soon prisons in Punjab will be an example for entire prisons in the country.
The Minister said that MPA will present report regarding number of employees and number of animals in the houses of prisons officers while medical and education facilities, standard of foods, transportation of drugs in the prisons will be part of points reports.
He added that cleanliness in prisons, fundamental human rights, suggestions regarding corruption will be made part of the report.
