South Africa qualify for Champions Trophy semi-final spot as England bundled out for 179

KARACHI: The Marco Jansen-led bowling attack propelled South Africa to the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 semi-finals after restricting England to a modest total of 179 runs in the 11th match of the tournament being played at the National Bank Stadium, Karachi, on Saturday.

Opting to bat first, England were off to a horrendous start and started to face an early hiccup. The wicket of Phil Salt started the slide and it went downhill quickly thereafter.

Joe Root (37), Jofra Archer (25), Ben Duckett (24), Jos Buttler (21) showed some resistance with the bat.

Phil Salt (8), Jamie Smith (0), Harry Brook (19), Liam Livingstone (9), and Jamie Overton (11) failed to show significant resistance with the bat.

For South Africa, Wiaan Mulder (3-25) and Marco Jansen (3-39) bagged three wickets apiece.

Keshav Maharaj (2-35) took two wickets.

Lungi Ngidi (1-33) and Kagiso Rabada (1-42) took a scalp each.
