South Africa sets Afghanistan a target of 316 runs

KARACHI: In the third match of the Champions Trophy, South Africa set Afghanistan a target of 316 runs to win.

The match, being played at Karachi’s National Stadium, South Africa winning the toss and opting to bat first.

South Africa’s first wicket fell at 28 runs when Tony de Zorzi was dismissed for 11 runs. After that, Ryan Rickelton and Temba Bavuma stabilized the innings, with both scoring half-centuries.

However, Bavuma was caught off Mohammad Nabi’s delivery at a total of 157 runs, having scored 58 runs.

Rickelton then played a brilliant knock, scoring a century before being dismissed for 103 runs.

Wiaan Mulder and Aiden Markram contributed with responsible batting, both making 52 runs before getting out.

South Africa scored 315 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in their allotted 50 overs. Afghanistan’s Mohammad Nabi took two wickets, while Fazal Haq Farooqi, Azmatullah Omarzai, and Noor Ahmad each took one wicket.
