Special relief package approved for utility stores employees

ISLAMABAD: A comprehensive relief package has been approved for employees of the Utility Stores Corporation to ensure financial security for affected workers and their families.

The decision was made in accordance with directives from Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. In this regard, a meeting was convened today in Islamabad, bringing together the management of the Utility Stores Corporation and employees, under the chairmanship of Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Haroon Akhtar Khan.

During the meeting, a formal agreement on severance and compensation was signed between the Utility Stores Corporation and the National Workers Union. Under this accord, eligible employees will receive a detailed severance and financial support package. Following the signing, the process of issuing cheques to employees has already begun.

The disbursement of payments will be carried out in multiple phases, with 40% of the total amount paid in the first installment, followed by two subsequent payments of 30% each. The agreement also guarantees annual increments for the years 2024 and 2025 as part of the overall compensation plan.

Most employees have voluntarily accepted the package, demonstrating their trust in the government’s efforts to safeguard workers’ rights and welfare.

Addressing the gathering, Haroon Akhtar Khan emphasized that the government is committed to providing full financial backing to ensure prompt and transparent payments to all eligible staff. He reiterated that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif prioritizes the economic security of affected families and is taking all necessary steps to promote fairness, stability, and support for the workforce.
