The spirit-uplifting washing ceremony of Holy Kaaba in Makkah-e-Mukarrama was held today with Governor of Mekkah Prince Khalid-ul-Faisal washing the Holy Kaaba with rose water, Zam Zam water, odh and some of the other finest fragrances anywhere.
The Chief Guest of the ceremony was King Salman of Saudi Arabia.
Like every year the spirit-lifting ceremony was held with the return of pilgrims from the country and the beginning of new year of Islamic Hijri lunar calendar.
The Holy Kaaba is washed with thousands of kilograms of rose water and Zam Zam water on the 15th day of Muharram, the first month of Islamic Hijri calendar, every year. The inside walls of Holy Kaaba are being washed with bright white clothes soaked in rose water and Oud and other finest fragrances the inside floor of the Holy Kaaba is washed with Zam Zam water and rose water and is scrubbed with date leafs and hands.
The spirit-lifting ceremony is also attended by representatives and religious scholars of Muslim countries.
The Saudi security personnel formed a circle around the Holy Kaaba as soon as King Salman arrived.
