Spot Fixing Case: Khalid Lateef Challenges LHC verdict at SC

Lahore (August 22, 2017): Suspended cricketer Khalid Lateef has challenged the judgment of the Divisional Bench of Lahore High Court in spot fixing case at the Supreme Court. Khalid has submitted written arguments at the Tribunal investigating the Spot Fixing case.

Tribunal Khalid’s lawyer Badar Alam argues that the Tribunal did not give a chance to cross examine the witnesses. The petition submitted at the apex court once again challenges PCB’s code of Conduct and the proceedings of the Tribunal.

It may also be mentioned here that PCB had also suspended one of the other five crickets allegedly involved in spot fixing Sharjeel Khan from all formats of the game and sent him back home the very next day of Pakistan Super League II event. Sharjeel was handed a charge sheet on February 18 for violating five sections of PCB Code of Conduct.

On March 24 Sharjeel submitted initial written arguments before the three-member  committee and he submitted the final arguments on August 29. According to sources Sharjeel’s case is expected to be heard between August 26 to 30. Meanwhile PCB has recommended slapping a life time ban on Sharjeel.

The sources informed that PCB is considering penalizing Sharjeel and imposing an overall five-year ban on him.
