RAWALPINDI: The spokesperson for the Sri Lanka Cricket team has confirmed that the Sri Lankan squad is departing Pakistan before completing their tour.
According to the spokesperson, the Sri Lankan team is leaving the series and returning home. The team’s manager stated that the players wish to leave Pakistan.
Meanwhile, sources indicate that the Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board and the Interior Minister will meet with the Sri Lankan team shortly. It is reported that during the meeting, the team will be briefed on security arrangements.
Earlier, the Sri Lankan team canceled their scheduled practice session for the evening. The Pakistan team had also decided to rest for the day, leading the Sri Lankan squad to cancel their practice plans as well.
It is noteworthy that Sri Lanka was scheduled to play the remaining two One Day Internationals (ODIs) of the series against Pakistan, followed by participation in a tri-nation series hosted in Pakistan.
The second ODI between Pakistan and Sri Lanka is scheduled to take place tomorrow in Rawalpindi.
