Pallekele: Sri Lanka defeated Bangladesh by five wickets in their first match of 11th Asia Cup here in Pallekele, Sri Lanka.
Sri Lanka chasing the meagre target of 164 lost two wickets at 26 runs. While later it achieved the target sparing 66 balls.
Charith Asalanka and Samarawickrama were two players who scored fifties from Sri Lanka while albeit made 62 runs while later scored 54 runs.
Bangladesh bowlers have given tough time to Sri Lanka but its target could not provide room for showing their brilliance.

Shakib Al Hasan took two wickets while Taskin Ahmed, Mahedi Hasan, Shoriful Islam have gotten one wicket each.
Earlier playing first Bangladesh had bowled out at meagre score of 164 sparing seven overs to go against Sri Lanka at Pallekele in Sri Lanka.
Only four batters of Bangladesh crossed double figures while Najmul Hossain Shanto was only batter who played well and succeeded to score 89 runs.
Moreover, other three who scored more than 10 were Towhid Hridoy 20, Mohammad Naim 16, Mushfiqur Rahim 13.
From Sri Lankan bowlers Matheesha Pathirana was successful bowler by taking 4 wickets. Followed by Maheesh Theekshana with 2 wickets.
Meanwhile Dhananjaya de Silva, Dunith Wellalage and Dasun Shanaka got one wicket each.
Bangladesh has opted to bat first after winning the toss.
