In Sri Lanka, President Gotabaya Rajapaksa and Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe have agreed to resign on Wednesday to make way for an all-party government.
Protesters were jubilant in country’s capital today and there was complete calm.
Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena said, in a video statement, President’s decision will ensure a peaceful handover of power.
Huge crowds converged on the official residence of President, chanting slogans and waving the national flag before breaking through the barricades and entering the property yesterday.
