Sri Lankan President Suspends Parliment

Colombo (October 27, 2018):Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena prorogued the parliament until November 16 in view of unprecedented constitutional crises that emerged after the removal of its Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe.

Srilankan parliamentarian said that President Sirisena prorogued the 225 seat parliament until November 16, hours after an invitation by former Prime Minister, Wickremesinghe to convene an emergency session of parliament to prove his majority.

The Sri lankan parliament was supposed to hold a meeting on November 5 to discuss the 2019 budget.
