BAGDAD: Over 100 people were killed and scores injured in a suicide car bomb explosion in Iraq.
The blast struck a petrol pump and a restaurant in Hilla city of Babil Governorate. Hilla city is situated some 100 kilometer in South of Bagdad
Majority of the deceased were Iranian citizens. Foreign news agency said that the suicide bomber targeted Iranian pilgrims heading to home after commemorating Arabaeen in the holy city of Karbala. Rescue officials shifted the bodies and the injured to the hospital. Majority of the injured were in critical condition and causalities could be increased, said hospital sources.
The foreign news agency said a restaurant is situated near the petrol pump where majority of the Iranian pilgrims stayed. self-styled Islamic State or Daish took responsibility of the attack.
