Syria war: UNSC emergency meeting, Moon calls rivals’ to stop violence

NEW YORK: UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon appealed to the rivals to immediately stop violence in Syria while speaking at the emergency meeting of the Security Council.

The US has said that Syrian and Russia air strikes have turned the life of Halab residents into hell. Meanwhile 23 people were killed and many others were injured from bombardments of Russian forces.

UN envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura called Syria’s declaration of a military offensive to retake Aleppo has led to one of the worst weeks of the  war with dozens of airstrikes against residential areas and buildings causing scores of civilian deaths. The offensive targeting civilians with sophisticated weapons including incendiary devices may amount to war crimes, he added. He appealed to the world community to play its role for immediate ceasefire in Syria to help stop war crimes.

Syrian envoy to the UN Bashar Jafri said that his country will not allow occupation of an inch of Halab and to make rebels and Daesh run.
