Tahirul Qadri Announces Women Sit-In on Aug 16 in Lahore

Lahore (August 11, 2017): The chief of Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) Tahir ul Qadri announced the women sit-in on August 16 at Mall Road Lahore for indefinite period or till the affected families get justice.

According to the details, Dr Tahir ul Qadri, Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) chief has announced to stage a sit-in against the government of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) on August 16 on Shahrah-e-Quaid-e-Azam.

Addressing press conference at party headquarter Minhajul Quran Secretariat Tahir ul Qadari said that the widows and daughters of the Model Town martyred have decided to stage sit-in at Mall Road till they get justice

“I request the chief justice to constitute a bench after Eid ul Azha to review the Justice Baqar Najfi report regarding Model Town tragedy, in which 14 PAT workers martyred and take the culprits to the task,” Qadrai said.

Commenting on Nawaz Sharif GTR rally, which is en-route to Lahore from Islamabad, he said people have rejected Nawaz Sharif rally by siding away themselves.

Lashing out crushing of a innocent boy by Eliot Force vehicle during the rally, Qadri said that it was regretful that after killing the boy the rally passed without taking any notice of the incident and no one was stopped there to inquire after the deceased family.

Earlier on August 8, Dr Qadri arrived in Lahore after over a month from Oslo, Canada and addressed a rally in Nasir Bagh of Lahore during which he delivered a tirade against former prime minister Nawaz Sharif.

On June 17, 2014, 14 PAT supporters were killed and dozens wounded when the police mounted an operation to remove barriers from a road leading to the PAT offices and Qadri’s residence in Lahore’s Model Town.

Earlier in 2016, Qadri lead a sit-in at Rawalpindi, demanding justice for families of the Model Town victims.

Qadri’s other sit-in and long march against the government was in 2013. Qadri, who returned to Pakistan after years in Toronto, accused the government of being corrupt and incompetent, and said polls cannot be held until reforms are enacted.
