ISLAMABAD: A new process has been established for delivering targeted petrol subsidies to the public.
Officials from the Ministry of Information Technology have clarified that there will be no dedicated application or petrol rationing system. Instead, data is being gathered from Excise and Taxation offices, and the subsidy payments are being forwarded to the State Bank of Pakistan for distribution.
According to the ministry, the subsidy amount will be transferred directly into the bank accounts associated with individuals’ CNICs, based on data from the Excise and Taxation Department.
Digital wallets have already initiated the payment process, officials added. The Prime Minister has instructed that all provinces implement a uniform policy. Provinces will handle measures related to motorcycles and farmers directly, while transportation sectors—including trucks, buses, and other large vehicles—will be managed at the national level.
Moreover, similar arrangements will be extended to Islamabad, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Azad Kashmir, with coordinated efforts at the national scale.
