WEB DESK: Tariq Ali Nizamani, Managing Director of the Sindh Solid Waste Management Board (SSWMB), emphasized that the cleanliness arrangements made for Youm-e-Ali were carried out with profound respect, dedication, and a strong sense of responsibility towards the religious sentiments of the community. He shared these observations during a visit to oversee sanitation measures along procession routes in Karachi.
He commended the efforts of the sanitary workers of SSWMB, noting their unwavering commitment to maintaining a hygienic environment in areas hosting processions, mosques, and imambargahs. The staff remained actively involved before, during, and after the religious gatherings to ensure cleanliness and facilitate smooth participation.
Nizamani appreciated the hard work of sanitation personnel and operational teams who continued their efforts despite the large crowds. To support these efforts, additional manpower and machinery were deployed for prompt waste collection and street cleaning, especially on major procession routes.
He also pointed out that special attention was given to maintaining hygiene along the routes, including sweeping, waste removal, and lime sprinkling near religious sites to ensure public health and convenience. These arrangements were executed in coordination with relevant institutions to ensure effective and seamless operations across Karachi.
The MD SSWMB stressed that ensuring cleanliness during significant religious occasions is not merely an administrative responsibility but also a demonstration of collective respect for the sacred event. He called upon citizens to cooperate with sanitation staff and dispose of waste responsibly to help preserve the cleanliness of the city.
Concluding his remarks, Tariq Ali Nizamani highlighted that the dedication of sanitation workers during Youm-e-Ali reflects their commitment to serving the community and upholding Karachi’s cleanliness during important national and religious observances.
