WEB DESK: Pakistan’s Tayyab Ikram has elected as the President of the International Hockey Federation (FIH) for an extended 8-year term. The election took place during a special event in Muscat, marking the 100th anniversary of the FIH.
In a significant decision, the FIH Congress amended its constitution, increasing the term of office for the President from 4 years to 8 years. As a result, Tayyab Ikram, who had no opposition for the role, unanimously appointed to lead the global governing body of hockey.
This marks a historic moment as Tayyab Ikram becomes the first President of the FIH to hold office for an 8-year duration. He initially elected two years ago following the resignation of former President Narinder Batra.
Ikram’s leadership has already been instrumental in steering the FIH through challenging times, and his re-election underscores the confidence the international hockey community has in his vision and leadership for the sport’s global growth and development.
