Terror attack leaves 5 policemen dead in Karak

ISLAMABAD: Five police officers lost their lives after terrorists ambushed a police vehicle during a routine patrol near Gargri police station on Tuesday. In response, authorities have initiated an extensive operation to track down the attackers.

Police sources revealed that the attack unfolded when a vehicle carrying five officers was subjected to heavy gunfire in the Gargri area. Four officers were killed on the spot, while the fifth succumbed to injuries later, as confirmed by DPO Karak Saud Khan.

The police mobile was conducting routine patrolling duties when it came under fire, with the attackers targeting the officers indiscriminately.

A significant police force, including the District Police Officer (DPO), has been deployed to the scene to secure the area. Authorities have cordoned off the site and are examining evidence to identify those responsible for the assault.

Security officials assured that all efforts are being taken to apprehend the culprits and restore security in the region.

PM Shehbaz, Naqvi denounce the attack

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif conveyed deep sorrow over the loss of five police personnel in the attack. He offered prayers for the martyrs to attain the highest stations in eternity and extended his condolences to their families, praising their sacrifice on behalf of the entire nation.

He emphasized that the role of law enforcement remains pivotal in the fight against terrorism and reiterated his administration’s unwavering commitment to eliminating terrorism from the country.

Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi also strongly condemned the incident, labeling it a “brutal act by barbaric elements.” He expressed heartfelt acknowledgment of the fallen officers’ bravery and extended sympathy to their grieving families.

Naqvi declared that these sacrifices would not be in vain, promising a decisive response by the state to ensure justice is served.
