PESHAWAR: A tragic event unfolded in Mamund Tehsil of Bajaur District on Wednesday when a house collapse claimed the lives of two children and a woman, while another woman sustained serious injuries.
According to residents and officials from Rescue 1122, the incident took place in the hilly Niag Bara Banda area after a room in the house suddenly gave way. Eyewitnesses reported that the victims included the homeowner’s mother and his two young daughters, who died instantly. His wife was critically injured and later transported to Khar’s district headquarters hospital for urgent medical care.
Local residents, along with rescue teams, rushed to the site to recover the bodies and assist the injured. Authorities believe the collapse was caused by recent heavy rains that had left the mud-built structure in a fragile state.
The disaster occurred during an intense period of rainfall and snowfall across KP, severely impacting several districts. High-altitude areas such as Mansehra, Kohistan, Shangla, Battagram, and Abbottabad have faced significant challenges including blocked roads, power outages, and disruptions to daily activities. Due to hazardous weather conditions, authorities have restricted tourist movement to popular spots like Kaghan Valley and Shogran.
