TikTok Deletes Over 20 Million Videos from Pakistan in Three Months

KARACHI: TikTok has announced that between January and March this year, it removed a total of 166.99 million videos worldwide due to violations of its community standards. Of these, more than 20 million videos originated from Pakistan.

In its latest community guidelines enforcement report, TikTok revealed that during the first quarter of 2024, its proactive moderation efforts resulted in the removal of nearly 167 million videos globally, accounting for approximately 0.9% of all uploads on the platform.For the first time, TikTok has also disclosed data on comments, revealing that it filtered and removed 976,479,946 comments during this period through its comment safety tools. 

Specifically, in Pakistan, the platform took action against over 20.2 million videos for violating community guidelines within the same timeframe. The report highlighted that around 93.9% of content breaching guidelines was removed within 24 hours of posting, with a global proactive removal rate of 99.8%. 

In an effort to protect young users, TikTok also deleted over 21.6 million accounts suspected to belong to individuals under the age of 13, aiming to ensure a safer environment for minors.
