The death toll from consumption of toxic liquor has soared to 26 while the condition of 23 of the 67 effectees is critical.
According to details over 70 people consumed the toxic liquor in Mubarakabad Colony area of Toba Tek Singh and all of them got critically sick within minutes. Five youngsters died on the spot many others were shifted to District Hospital Toba Tek Singh and later to Allied Hospital in Faisalabad where 21 more of them died.
According to hospital administration 67 people are still under treatment at the two hospitals and the condition of the majority of whom is reportedly critical.
Police says that the effectees drank the liquor in excess.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif has constituted a high level committee to probe the incident.
