Torkham Border reopens for pedestrian movement after 28-Day closure

WEB DESK: Torkham border between Pakistan and Afghanistan has been reopened for pedestrian movement after 28 days.

Immigration officials have stated that pedestrian traffic has resumed at the Torkham border crossing, allowing only travelers with passports and visas to enter and exit Afghanistan.

On average, around 10,000 individuals cross into Afghanistan through the Torkham border daily.

The border crossing was closed for all types of traffic on February 21 due to rising tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan.

Three days ago, the border was reopened for trade; however, during the tension between the Pakistani and Afghan forces, the immigration system was damaged due to gunfire, which led to the suspension of pedestrian traffic because of technical issues with the system.
