ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has dismissed Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf’s MNA Shireen Mazari’s petition filed against Defence Minister Khwaja Asif for using derogatory language against her during the National Assembly session.
A single member bench of Justice Athar Minallah heard the petition of Mazari.
Counsel of the PTI leader argued in the last hearing that the case was a matter of defamation, and his client was personally targeted by the minister.
Dismissing the petition, the court observed that Asif’s remark about Mazari was part of parliamentary proceedings and the court had no jurisdiction to interfere in the proceeding.
Asif during National Assembly session in June this year used derogatory language against the PTI MNA, calling her a tractor trolley, criticising her voice.
The defence minister later tendered an ‘unconditional’ apology after initially refusing to do so. But did not name Mazari in his apology.
