LAHORE: In a heartbreaking event, the bodies of four children were retrieved from a pond designated for animals in the forests of Changa Manga on Tuesday.
The victims have been identified as nine-year-old Hadia, ten-year-old Adnan, and eleven-year-olds Murad and Imran. Hadia, Adnan, and Murad were siblings, while Imran was their cousin.
The children had traveled from Toba Tek Singh to Vir Singh Wala when the tragic accident occurred. Their parents had gone into the forest to collect firewood when one of the children slipped into a pond that was approximately eight to ten feet deep.
In an attempt to rescue him, the other three children also jumped into the pond and subsequently drowned. When the parents returned, they discovered their children’s bodies floating on the water’s surface.
Following the incident, senior officials from the forest department promptly arrived at the scene to gather details and assess the situation. The entire community is in mourning over the loss of the young lives.
