ANKARA: In a distressing incident, a Turkish Airlines pilot collapsed and died mid-flight on Tuesday evening while operating flight TK204, which was en route from Seattle to Istanbul.
According to a spokesperson for the airline, the pilot, a 59-year-old with over 16 years of service at Turkish Airlines, experienced a medical emergency shortly after takeoff. Despite the crew’s attempts to provide first aid, he did not survive.
The flight crew, consisting of another pilot and a co-pilot, made the decision to divert the aircraft for an emergency landing, which occurred in New York. The airline confirmed that the deceased pilot had recently passed a medical examination in March, with no indications of health issues at that time.
The incident has left the airline and its passengers in shock as they navigate the aftermath of this tragic event.
