Islamabad: 147th birth anniversary of Poet of the East is being observed today.
On the 147th birth anniversary of Allama Muhammad Iqbal, changing of guards ceremony was held at Mazar Iqbal. Pakistan Navy Commander Central Punjab Rear Admiral Azhar Mehmood was the chief guest of the ceremony.
Pakistan Navy troops took over the duties of honor guards at Mazar e Iqbal.
Allama Muhammad Iqbal, the visionary poet, philosopher, and national poet of Pakistan, whose words continue to inspire generations. Iqbal’s poetry transcended borders and barriers, touching the hearts of millions and illuminating minds across the East and the world.
Iqbal’s contributions were not merely in the realm of literature, but in the spiritual and intellectual awakening of the Muslim world. Through his verses, he awakened a sense of self-awareness and pride, calling for a renewal of thought and action, rooted in both tradition and modernity.

His concept of “Khudi” emphasised the importance of self realization and the nurturing of human potential, a message that resonates as deeply today as it did when he first penned it.
Iqbal was born on 9th November 1877 in Sialkot.
