Trump announces U.S. withdrawal from Iran conflict within a few weeks

WASHINGTON: President Donald Trump has declared that the United States plans to withdraw from the Iran conflict within the next two to three weeks. During a media briefing at the White House, he claimed that regime change in Iran has already taken place. However, he clarified that the main objective was not regime change itself but to prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons, a goal he says has now been accomplished.

Trump indicated that the U.S. intends to exit the conflict soon and suggested a deal might be possible before the withdrawal is finalized. He also remarked that negotiations with Iran are not essential, and the U.S. has the capacity to end hostilities unilaterally. According to him, all possible options remain on the table to halt military actions without needing an agreement.

The President emphasized that Iran will not be able to produce nuclear weapons for the next four to five years. He warned that if Iran were to become capable of nuclear armament, a future U.S. leader, like himself, would take decisive action to destroy Iran, asserting that allowing Iran to possess nuclear weapons is unacceptable. He further claimed that Iran would need 15 to 20 years to rebuild its military and infrastructure, which he said are currently in disarray, lacking a navy, army, and air force. Trump stated that Iran’s leadership has been dismantled and that the country is without direction.

Additionally, Trump asserted that if France and other nations seek oil and gas resources, they should navigate through the Strait of Hormuz, which he believes they can defend themselves. He made it clear that the U.S. bears no responsibility for protecting the Strait and that other countries must secure their own interests.

In an earlier interview with an American newspaper, Trump expressed his intention to not stay in Iran’s region for long. He maintained that once the U.S. pulls back, the Strait of Hormuz will open naturally. The primary aim of the U.S. intervention, he reiterated, was to ensure Iran does not acquire nuclear weapons.
