Trump claims eight planes were downed during Pakistan-India conflict

WEB DESK: US President Donald Trump has stated that the number of aircraft shot down during the Pakistan-India conflict was eight, contrary to earlier reports suggesting six or seven.

During an event held in Miami, President Trump mentioned reading news articles about the clashes, which had conflicting accounts. He emphasized that while one report suggested seven aircraft were downed and another claimed one was damaged, the actual figure was eight.

Trump also asserted that he played a key role in de-escalating tensions between Pakistan and India, emphasizing his personal intervention to halt the conflict between the two nuclear-armed countries. He explained that he warned both nations that, should they continue fighting, he would impose higher tariffs and disrupt trade relations.

Addressing wider international issues, the US president expressed his view that South Africa should not have a seat in the G20 and confirmed his intent to skip any summit hosted there.

He highlighted his administration’s efforts in brokering peace deals, stating several nations joined the Abraham Accords during his tenure. Trump also voiced optimism about Saudi Arabia potentially joining the agreement, citing ongoing progress in Middle Eastern peace initiatives.
