Trump claims second downed US Airman rescued safely in Iran operation

WASHINGTON: Donald Trump announced Sunday that a second American airman shot down inside Iran has been successfully rescued and is “safe and sound” after a high-risk military mission.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump described the operation as one of the most daring search-and-rescue efforts in US history, revealing that multiple aircraft were deployed to recover the injured officer, a senior colonel.

“He sustained injuries, but he will be just fine,” Trump said, confirming the airman’s condition was stable.

US media had earlier reported that special forces rescued one of two crew members from a downed F-15 fighter jet  marking the first such incident inside Iran since the conflict began. Trump noted that the first rescue had been kept undisclosed to avoid jeopardizing the second mission.

He added that both pilots were recovered in separate operations deep within hostile territory, with no American casualties reported.

Meanwhile, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps claimed it had shot down a US aircraft involved in the search operation near Isfahan, according to local media reports.
