WASHINGTON: Pakistan and Afghanistan are likely to be included in a new list of countries facing comprehensive travel restrictions to the United States.
Upon taking office, President Trump tasked the U.S. Department of State with creating “Red,” “Yellow,” and “Golden” lists, which involved ranking countries that pose various security concerns to the United States.
The Red List includes those countries for which the United States will raise a red flag for no entry. These countries include Cuba, Iran, Libya, North Korea, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, Venezuela, and Yemen. Additionally, Afghanistan and Pakistan are temporary being added to this group.
The Golden List includes countries from which only a select few eligible individuals may be allowed to enter the United States, but a complete ban will not be implemented. However, there will be consideration for not granting visas to tourists or visitors.
The Yellow List countries will be given 60 days to complete their documentation legally. Entry into the United States will only be possible if they fulfill this requirement; otherwise, they will be considered unacceptable.
