WASHINGTON: President Donald Trump has issued a stern ultimatum to Hamas, giving the militant group until 6 p.m. on October 5 to accept his proposed peace agreement aimed at ending the ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict.
In a post on Truth Social on October 3, Trump warned that failure to agree would result in severe military action, stating, “If this LAST CHANCE agreement is not reached, all HELL, like no one has ever seen before, will break out against Hamas. THERE WILL BE PEACE IN THE MIDDLE EAST ONE WAY OR THE OTHER.”
Trump also called on all “innocent Palestinians” to evacuate the region immediately, assuring them that “everyone will be well cared for by those that are waiting to help.” He emphasized that the proposed deal would “SPARE THE LIVES OF ALL REMAINING HAMAS FIGHTERS!”
The peace initiative was announced on September 29 during a White House event attended by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Both leaders warned that Hamas’s rejection could lead to a “very sad end” for the group, as regional tensions escalate amid Israel’s ongoing military operations in Gaza, which have drawn international criticism over civilian casualties and humanitarian concerns.
Under the terms of Trump’s proposal, hostilities would cease, and within 72 hours, Hamas would release all remaining hostages taken during a terror attack nearly two years ago. The plan also envisions the reconstruction of Gaza and offers Palestinians who wish to stay in the territory the option to do so.
Trump indicated that he believed this offer could be a decisive step toward peace, but made it clear that a rejection would lead to significant consequences.
