Trump Warns India and Pakistan: U.S. Will Halt Trade if Conflict Escalates

WASHINGTON: United States President Donald Trump issued a stark warning to India and Pakistan on Monday, stressing that the United States would intervene and halt trade relations if the conflict between the two nations continues to escalate. Speaking to reporters, Trump emphasized the gravity of the situation, describing the conflict as having reached a “very dangerous point.”

“There was a very serious situation between the two countries. We had to act fast,” Trump said. “We averted a nuclear war.”Trump credited U.S. mediation efforts for the successful ceasefire, which he called “crucial” for regional stability. “The fighting stopped. That was critical,” he noted, underscoring the importance of the cessation of hostilities.

Looking ahead, Trump signaled a continued U.S. role in supporting both nations economically and diplomatically. “We will hold talks with Pakistan soon,” he said, adding that the U.S. was prepared to assist both countries with trade matters.

In his remarks, Trump also praised the leadership of both India and Pakistan, acknowledging their “unwavering” commitment to peace in the face of adversity.
