ISLAMABAD: The minister of Economic Affairs Ahad Khan Cheema met Turkish Ambassador Mehmet Pacaci in Islamabad, Pakistan and Turkey agreed to strengthen economic partnership.
The Minister of Economic Affairs Ahad Khan Cheema hailed the 2022 Preferential Trade Agreement (PTA) between Pakistan and Turkiye as an important development. He informed the Ambassador about the establishment of SIFC in Pakistan with the aim of attracting investment from the friendly countries.
Turkiye’s investment potential in Pakistan for corporate farming, including agricultural machinery and equipment, was also discussed in the meeting.
Both the sides emphasized the importance of enhancing cooperation in bilateral trade and investment through Government-to-Government (G2G) and Business-to-Business (B2B) arrangements.
Appreciating the importance of SIFC, the Ambassador expressed the desire to expand trade between the two countries through High Level Strategic Cooperation Council (HLSCC) and Strategic Economic Framework (SEF) and promotion of cooperation in the areas of energy, banking, trade and railway sectors.
