Turkish Military Coup: No Power Higher Than Power of People

Ankara (July 15, 2017): July 15 is a historical day for Turkey when the masses had foiled a military coup and set an example of people’s power for the whole world. On 15 July 2016, a foiled coup d’état was attempted in Turkey against state the institutions and legitimate government.

As the coup began, Erdogan on ‘Face Time’ urged masses to come out on the streets against the military coup and safe the democracy. “There is no power higher than the power of the people,” the President said.A faction of Turkish armed forces attempted to seize control of several key places in Ankara and Istanbul and other areas but failed to do so after masses came out on the streets and defeated them.

Gunfire heard at Turkish General Staff. Fighter jet begin flying low in Ankara and Istanbul.A Turkish fighter jet has shot down a military helicopter used by the members of the coup forces.Police launched operation against rogue army personnel and arrested many of them with the help of people.

The coup had been foiled and the government accused the coup leaders of being linked to the Gulen movement.

Over 250 people were killed in the failed coup on July 15, 2016, while trying to stop the insurrection.

Turkey is commemorating the first anniversary of the quashed military coup that sought to overthrow President Recep Tayyip Erdogan today.
