Two Ex Israeli reserve soldiers detained on charges of spying for Iran

WEB DESK: Two former Israeli reserve soldiers have been arrested on charges of spying for Iran.

According to Israeli media, Israel’s internal security agency Shin Bet and Israeli police arrested the two former reserve soldiers, accusing them of spying for Iran in exchange for money.

Israeli police stated that the main suspect, Yuri Eliasfov, was stationed in the Israeli military’s Iron Dome air defense unit, during which time he provided confidential information to his Iranian handler.

According to an Israeli newspaper, the contact between Yuri and his Iranian handler began in September 2024.

A few months later, Yuri Eliasfov facilitated contact between his friend, Georgi Andriyev, and the same Iranian handler. Andriyev was stationed at the Israeli military’s Kirya headquarters in Tel Aviv.

Iranian media reported that both soldiers had also carried out wall chalking in support of Iran in Tel Aviv.
