Lahore (December 14, 2017): Second Lt Abdul Moeed, a 21 years old Pakistan Army officer and Sepoy Basharat who embraced martyrdom on Tuesday in an attack in North Waziristan, were laid to rest.
According to the details, Second Lt Abdul Moeed was laid to rest at Cavalry Ground graveyard, Lahore. His funeral prayers were offered at the Ayub Stadium and attended by Lahore Corps Commander Lt. General Amir Riaz, CCPO Lahore, senior army officers and representatives of the Punjab and federal government s attended the funeral prayers.
Moeed, a resident of Punjab’s Vehari area, was martyred when terrorists fired on an army vehicle in North Waziristan Agency. Sepoy Basharat, who belonged to Gilgit, also embraced martyrdom in the ambush.
Whereas, Sepoy Basharat was laid to rest in his native village in Gilgit around 3pm today. Sepoy Basharat Shaheed was also laid to rest with full military honour. His funeral was attended by Gilgit-Baltistan Chief Minister Hafiz Hafeezur Rehman and other senior military and civilian officials.The two officials were martyred in a terrorist attack in North Waziristan Agency, the ISPR said on Tuesday.According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the terrorists targeted the army vehicle from surrounding mountains in North Wazirstan Agency.
In his message on the martyrdom of the two soldiers, Chief of Army Staff said “Freedom isn’t free, it costs sons of the soil. Freedom that we enjoy today is owed to so many such brave hearts. Salute to our Martyrs”. The National Assembly on Tuesday offered Fateha for Second Lieutenant Abdul Moeed and Sepoy Basharat . Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi also paid tribute to the soldiers.
