KARACHI: Two young motorcyclists were killed in separate road accidents in Karachi on Monday after vehicles struck their bikes and the drivers fled without stopping.
In the first incident, a motorcyclist was killed after an unidentified vehicle hit his bike near KDA Flats in Surjani Town. The victim, identified as 28-year-old Jerry, died at the scene.
Rescue personnel shifted his body to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medico-legal formalities. The driver involved in the accident escaped before authorities could apprehend him.
In another incident, a speeding car collided with a motorcycle on Gul Bai Bridge, killing a 22-year-old man identified as Shafiullah, according to rescue sources.
His body was transported to Civil Hospital Karachi, while the driver fled the scene following the collision.
The two incidents have once again highlighted concerns over road safety in the metropolis, where fatal accidents involving motorcyclists continue to be reported despite the installation of surveillance cameras on several roads.
