WEB DESK: Two new polio cases reported from Lakki Marwat and Bannu, number of cases climbs to 10 this year.
Federal health authorities confirmed the detection of two new polio cases in Pakistan, bringing the total number of cases reported this year to ten. The latest cases were identified in Lakki Marwat and Bannu districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
In Lakki Marwat, a 26-month-old girl from Bakhmal Ahmedzai Union Council exhibited symptoms of polio on April 22. Similarly, in Bannu, a 40-month-old child was diagnosed with the disease on May 1.
According to the officials, the girl from Lakki Marwat belongs to a vulnerable age group, and the case underscores ongoing challenges in eradicating polio in the region.
Federal health authorities have reported that, in 2025, the country has recorded five cases in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, four in Sindh, and one in Punjab.
