U.S. crude oil reaches Pakistan for the first time.

KARACHI: In a significant milestone for Pakistan’s energy sector and its trade relationship with the United States, Cnergyico Pk Limited has received the nation’s first-ever shipment of US crude oil at its Single Point Mooring (SPM) terminal in Balochistan. This marks a historic moment in both energy collaboration and maritime operations for Pakistan.

The delivery stems from the Pakistan-US trade agreement signed on July 31, 2025, which aims to strengthen economic ties between Islamabad and Washington. Cnergyico has confirmed plans for a second shipment expected in mid-November, with a third anticipated in 2026.

The arrival of MT Pegasus highlights the deepening cooperation between the two countries in the energy sector while opening a new chapter in Pakistan’s economic and maritime development.

The trade agreement was announced by US President Donald Trump, who emphasized working jointly to develop Pakistan’s oil reserves. He also mentioned ongoing efforts to finalize the lead oil company for this strategic partnership.

Pakistan’s Ministry of Finance has stated that the agreement seeks to boost bilateral trade, enhance market access, and encourage investment. The deal includes reduced tariffs on Pakistani exports to the US and outlines collaboration across sectors such as energy, minerals, information technology, and cryptocurrency.

Officials view this development as part of a broader commitment to economic growth and strategic alignment, with energy trade emerging as a key focus in shaping the future partnership between the two nations.
