WEB DESK: The United States has issued an urgent warning, advising its citizens in Iran to leave immediately as protests escalate and security risks grow. The US virtual embassy in Iran emphasized the increasing danger, urging Americans to create independent exit plans without relying on government assistance.
The advisory suggested leaving Iran via land through Armenia or Turkiye or, if unable to travel, to remain sheltered in a secure location with adequate supplies of essentials. Citizens were encouraged to keep phones charged and stay flexible with plans due to rapidly changing conditions.
The embassy also warned of a heightened risk of questioning, arrest, or detention for US nationals in Iran, cautioning that possession of a US passport or ties to the United States could lead to detention. Americans were advised to avoid protests, keep a low profile, stay vigilant, and limit movements.
Additionally, the US blocked access to the Tasnim News Agency’s online domain. Associated with Iran’s Revolutionary Guards, attempts to access the site outside Iran now result in error messages.
