UK announces fully funded chevening scholarships for pakistani applicants

ISLAMABAD: The United Kingdom has announced the opening of applications for its prestigious Chevening Scholarships, which provide full financial support for Pakistani mid-career professionals to pursue a one-year master’s degree at a leading British university.

According to a statement from the British High Commission in Islamabad, eligible applicants must have at least two years of post-graduate work experience. The application window is open from August 5 to October 7, 2025, and submissions can be made online through the official channels.

The scholarship package covers all major expenses, including tuition fees, round-trip airfare to the UK, visa charges, accommodation, and a monthly stipend to assist with living costs.Jane Marriott, the British High Commissioner to Pakistan, described the Chevening Scholarship as “a stepping stone for Pakistan’s future leaders,” urging eligible candidates with a passion for leadership and societal impact to apply.“Beyond offering a world-class education, Chevening provides an opportunity to expand your network, build confidence, and lead with a clear purpose,” Marriott emphasized.

Applicants are expected to showcase leadership qualities, influence, and strong networking skills through tangible examples. The program also aims to strengthen the long-term relationship between Pakistan and the UK by integrating scholars into British academic and cultural environments.

Established in 1983, the Chevening Scholarship program is funded by the UK’s Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) in partnership with various organizations. With a global alumni network exceeding 60,000 individuals across 160 countries—including over 2,000 Pakistanis—the program has produced many influential leaders in government, business, and civil society worldwide.
