RAWALPINDI: General Sir Charles Roland Vincent Walker, the Chief of the General Staff of the United Kingdom Army, paid a respectful visit to the Pakistan Army Headquarters (GHQ) on Thursday, where he met with Pakistan’s Army Chief, General Syed Asim Munir.
The meeting focused on discussing mutual interests, regional security issues, and ways to strengthen bilateral defense cooperation. Both military leaders emphasized the importance of ongoing collaboration to foster peace and stability throughout the region.
The discussions highlighted the mutual determination of both armies to enhance strategic communication and coordinate efforts to tackle emerging security challenges. They reaffirmed that military engagement remains a key element in promoting mutual understanding and regional stability, especially in South Asia and beyond.
During his visit, General Walker acknowledged Pakistan Army’s significant contributions to international peacekeeping missions and praised their efforts in fighting terrorism. He expressed appreciation for the sacrifices made by Pakistani forces and their dedication to regional harmony. Upon arriving at GHQ, the UK military chief laid a floral wreath at Yadgar-e-Shuhada to honor the martyrs who laid down their lives for the nation. He was also accorded a guard of honor by a well-prepared contingent of the Pakistan Army.
This visit underscores the enduring partnership between Pakistan and the United Kingdom’s armed forces, reaffirming their mutual commitment to ongoing dialogue and defense collaboration.
