LONDON: The Palestinian human rights organization Al-Haq has approached the High Court against the provision of American-made F-35 jet parts to Israel.
Last year, the UK suspended several arms export licenses to Israel, but the supply of F-35 parts was exempted from the suspension.
The petitioner’s lawyer argued that facilitating crimes poses a significant threat. He said the UK has misunderstood international law regarding the provision of lethal aircraft components.
According to the lawyer, the catastrophe unfolding in Gaza is beyond words. Since October 2023, more than 55,000 Palestinians have been killed, and within just 18 months, Israel has destroyed an entire society.
Reports indicate that the decision to maintain the license for supplying F-35 parts was made based on the advice of the Defence Secretary.
The UK government maintains that the supply of these parts could have a serious impact on international peace and security.
According to the report, anti-war British Members of Parliament are also supporting the case. A verdict is expected in the coming days.
