UN report reveals evidence of the presence of Taliban in Afghanistan.

Web desk: A recent UN report has highlighted evidence of the Taliban’s continued presence in Afghanistan, alongside the activities of Fitna al-Khawarij and al-Qaeda.

In its presentation to the Security Council, the report pointed out that Afghanistan has become a breeding ground for terrorist organizations, including al-Qaeda and its affiliated groups. It further emphasized that these groups represent a significant threat to the stability of Central Asia and other regions.

The findings noted that al-Qaeda’s presence in Afghanistan largely involves Arab-origin fighters who have historically collaborated with the Taliban. These fighters are reportedly spread across six provinces: Ghazni, Helmand, Kandahar, Kunar, Uruzgan, and Zabul. Additionally, there are accounts of multiple al-Qaeda-linked training centers operating within Afghanistan.

Among these facilities, three new training centers have been identified, specifically used to train members of al-Qaeda and the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). The report estimates that the TTP alone comprises approximately 6,000 fighters and has access to a diverse arsenal of weapons.
